Paris: Friday 11 October Afternoon

Visit of C2RMF @Louvre Palace

Restoration workshops (usually closed to public) & The Lab': New Aglae, Radiography, UV induced fluorescence...

For IBA2019 conference attendees, a free visit of the Centre of Research and Restoration for French Museums (C2RMF) located in the Louvre Palace is included in the conference fee.

The first registered persons who wish to have a cultural break in Paris on their way to Antibes will have the opportunity to follow a private visit* of parts of the Louvre Palace that are not usually open to public: restoration workshops and the labs dedicated to Heritage Science.

Program

During the tour, the IBA2019 special guests will be welcome by curators, art restorers, conservation scientists and chemists, materials scientists and physicists who will explain the issues they are daily dealing with, the methodologies, instruments and techniques they are using and/or developing to answer the questioning of such important objects with their very specific constraints.

More specifically, you will visit the sculpture and painting restoration workshops.

You will watch the images obtained with natural light, UV, IR and RX and understand what type of information they bring on the Cultural Heritage object history or conservation state.

As one can expect, the New AGLAE facility will be widely open to our IBA colleagues, with a real case study at the end station… maybe a piece of Notre-Dame, who knows ?

*3 visits will start on Friday 11 Oct. at 13:20, 14:10 and 15:00. We suggest visitors to arrive 15 min before the visit begins to get through the security and registration process.

For further information, please contact
Claire Pacheco,
head of the AGLAE facility
or
Vanessa Fournier,
C2RMF Communication Officer.
